On February 22nd the Golden State (and my birth state) celebrates being the 31st state to join the Union #NationalCaliforniaDay!
Far and away California is the state that has ordered the most 2MyHero military greeting cards of any of the 50 states. I’ve shipped to families ordering for all 5 military branches, and have possibly shipped every design in the line.
Orders have come in from as far north as Redding (inland) and Ukiah (along the coast), and as far south as Calexico and Chula Vista.
When I went to tally the number of cities that I’ve shipped orders to the number was over 160! That’s 160 different cities, not just the total number of orders. Interestingly Temecula, West Covina, San Diego, Bakersfield, and Escondido kept popping up as I looked back through the orders.
Nestled in big and small cities across the state are Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and US Navy families who have found 2MyHero cards and are enthusiastic supporters of their military loved ones.
For 2MyHero, California has shown great support for all 5 branches – US Army, US Air Force, US Coast Guard, US Navy, and US Marine Corps. Individual cards and mixed packs, graduation, promotion, and birthday cards have all been ordered by military families residing in California.
Although I was born in northern California, lived there for a few years, and my son and daughter-in-law live in the Bay area, so we’ve driven down and back several times, it still surprised me how many cities I did not recognize at all. I haven’t any idea where in the state they are located.
Here’s the grand list of all the cities I have shipped 2MyHero individual, mixed packs, and boxed military greeting cards to: Alta Loma, Amarillo, Anaheim, Anaheim Hills, Apple Valley, Arroyo Grande, Atascadero, Auburn, Bakersfield, Bay Point, Beaumont, Bellflower, Brea, Brentwood, Burbank, Calabasas, Calexico, Calimesa, Camarillo, Canyon Lake, Carlsbad, Carmichael, Carson, Chatsworth, Chico, Chino Hills, Chula Vista, Clovis, Coachella, Colfax, Colton, Corona, Coronado, Costa Mesa, Culver City, Cupertino, Cypress, Delano, Diamond Bar, Diamond Springs, Discovery Bay, Eastvale, El Cajon, El Dorado Hills, El Segundo, Elk Grove, Encinitas, Escondido, Fair Oaks, Fairfield, Folsom, Fontana, Foothill Ranch, Fountain Valley, Fremont, Fresno, Fullerton, Galt, Glendale, Granby, Grand Terrace, Hanford, Hawthorne, Huntington Beach, Irvine, La Habra, La Mesa, La Mirada, La Puenta, Laguna Hills, Lake Elsinore, Lakeside, Lancaster, Lathrop, Lemon Grove, Lincoln, Livermore, Lodi, Lompoc, Long Beach, Loomis, Los Angeles, Madera, Malibu, Marina, Martinez, Menifee, Merced, Mission Viejo, Modesto, Moreno Valley, Morro Bay, Murrieta, National City, Newark, Norco, North Edwards, Oakdale, Oakland, Oceanside, Ontario, Orange, Oxnard, Palm Springs, Palmdale, Palo Alto, Pasadena, Placerville, Pleasant Hill, Porterville, Poway, Prunedale, Ramona, Rancho Cucamonga, Rancho Santa Margarita, Reacue, Redding, Redlands, Redwood City, Rialto, Riverbank, Riverside, Rolling Hills, Rosemead, Roseville, Running Springs, Sacramento, Salinas, San Bernardino, San Clemente, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, San Marcos, San Ramon, Santa Clarita, Santa Maria, Santa Monica, Santa Rosa, Santee, Shingle Springs, Simi Valley, South Gate, South San Francisco, Spring Valley, Stockton, Sun City, Sun Valley, Sunnyvale, Taft, Tarzana, Temecula, Ukia, Vallejo, Valley Springs, Van Nuys, Victorville, Visalia, Walnut, West Covina, Winchester, Woodland, Yorba Linda.
Home of 24 military bases including Marine Corps Base Camp San Diego, 29 Palms, and Camp Pendleton which is where the west coast Marine Corps makes Marines. The Corps has recently made some big changes that specifically affect female recruits.
In the past, female enlisted recruits all trained at MCRD Parris Island and were in the 4th Battalion. But that is no longer the case. As a result, 2MyHero has introduced two new versions of the female specific cards to give customers more flexibility. Both Fewer Prouder and She Believed are now available without 4th Battalion on the front.
Not only does this affect those who love enlisted female Marines, but it also opens these designs up to be fitting encouragement for female Commissioned Officer Marines.
California is also home to several military museums. The 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment Museum is part of a network of Army museums. One of their connections is with the U.S. Army Center of Military History which publishes a bulletin quarterly.
This bulletin can also be accessed online. The Winter 2021 Bulletin features 2 articles. In the first – The Gulf War at 30 looks in-depth into the short but significant battle that took place in the Middle East. The second article – Touching History Material Culture at West Point gives a snapshot of how West Point cadets study historical military battles through physical objects. The examples given range from actual pieces of military dress and weaponry to artifacts retained from battlefields. Both are worth reading if you are interested in military history.
Californians have a long and proud tradition of service in the military that the California State Military Museum presents online in an effort “not to glorify war, but rather to remind this and future generations of the sacrifices made by previous generations to keep the state and our nation free”.
In these times of social distancing, families all across the country are still unable to attend the graduation ceremonies as they once did. But just like the families in California, they can still express their pride and admiration for their new enlisted or commissioned officer Airman, Coastie, Marine, Sailor, or Soldier by sending them one or more of the fitting graduation and encouragement military greeting cards from 2MyHero.
For families with new recruits heading to basic training this year, the mixed pack of 6 offers fantastic savings and is a wonderful gift for the spouse, mom, dad, or grandparent.
2MyHero mixed packs of enlisted graduation, encouragement, Drill Instructor Thank You, and birthday cards are available for all 5 branches.
So many 2MyHero orders have come from devoted moms and dads, grandparents, and military personnel with a fairly even spread between Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy.
Thank you Golden State families for supporting your military sons and daughters with 2MyHero military greeting cards!
I want to thank the families and communities in California that have purchased 2MyHero military greeting cards and faithfully support our troops. I know your Airmen, Soldiers, Marines, and Sailors are thankful for your encouragement as well. Handwritten messages sent in an appropriate military greeting card are deeply appreciated and treasured. Some will hold onto these special gifts for the entire time of their military service. Maybe even beyond their military service.
If you’re from California please comment below with a “hooyah” if you love a Sailor, “oohrah” if you love a Marine, “hooah” if you love a Soldier, or “aim high” if you love an Airman, or “always ready” if you love a Coastie. Let me know what part of the state you’re from and which branch of the military your hero is either actively on duty with or a Veteran of. You can also connect through our contact page on the website.
