Vietnam Veterans have a special place in my heart. I know many, and each one has a unique story of struggle and perseverance. Some came home with really deep emotional wounds. Most of them had really rough re-entry experiences into civilian life.
It is my sincere hope that our society has shifted dramatically from the mindset of the American public during the Vietnam War. I believe many are now able to see how wrong they were to treat these deeply wounded Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, and Airmen with such animosity.
Some of these troops had very little support from family or friends. Most families wanted to welcome their loved ones home but were torn by the overall political climate so violently opposed to the governments’ decisions that they couldn’t separate their view of the military members from their opposition to the War itself.
